Survey 33 - "Have you ever taken an April Fools pranks too far?"

Throughout March we asked our users whether they had ever taken an April Fools prank too far. We found that 52% of respondants said they had. In fact, we had some great feedback with some funny stories including some of the following:

· Our boss told us in the morning that we'd won the lottery as a syndicate - we regularly won £10 but this time he said that we would all get £1000. Ecstatic and over the moon, I booked a holiday to the Seychelles for me and my boyfriend only to discover that we hadn't won!! I lost the £250 booking fee and I was gutted!

· My mum owns the company I work for so when everyone came in on April Fools morning, I gathered everyone around and told them that the business had been handed over to me and I was now in charge. By that lunch time 2 people had resigned!

· Last April fools, my colleague and I swapped a few people's drawers around. It was especially funny when my male boss found a packet of tampons in his drawer…I've never seen somebody's face turn so red!!!

· Our boss thought it would be funny to advertise all of our jobs in the local paper…needless to say, April Fools wasn't one of his most popular days.

· I put a whoopee cushion on my colleagues chair and much to my dismay, the boss sat in her chair to come and talk to me and suffered from the prank! I was not in the good books!

· I put glue on the rim of the office toilets - the boss sat on the loo and after about half an hour, he realised his trousers were stuck to his bum - I got the sack!

· I arrived extra early with my hamster and let it run around the small office that we work in to see who it would scare and freak out. The hamster pooed everywhere he went and caused a right mess. And to make things worse, I lost the thing. I was very upset!

· A colleague of mine was cheating on his girlfriend, so I thought it would be funny to change their names around on his mobile phone. He answered a call to what he thought was his lady friend with 'Hello My Gorgeous Lisa' but little did he know he was actually speaking to his his girlfriend, Clare. This caused huge problems and I got into big trouble!!

We all love an April Day Fools prank but remember, never pull an April Fools Prank that you couldn't handle if it was played on you.

Plus, the important thing to remember with jokes at work is that you should always look at the worst-case scenario of the prank you are attempting. If you or anybody else loses their job - it won't be so funny!
